About

A woman in a blue dress standing next to a wooden loom in a craft room, with fabric samples and textile art on the wall behind her.

Hello, I'm Joy. Weaving on Sundays is my space to create, discover, and build connections through fiber and design.

I'm a weaver, artist, and maker working at the intersection of traditional hand weaving and modern textile design, combining heritage techniques with a distinctly contemporary perspective.

My studio practice has two distinct sides. For my woven art, framed wall pieces, and textile works meant to be lived with as objects, I work from raw fiber to finished cloth. I source linen, cotton, wool, and alpaca, and when possible, collaborate directly with the farmers who raise the animals that produce them. These relationships root my work in a local, ethical network and allow me to understand fiber from its very beginning.

Functional textiles—table linens, kitchen cloths, and everyday handwoven fabric—are crafted with carefully chosen commercial yarns from local shops and small businesses. My commitment to supporting local makers and choosing materials with intention creates textiles rooted in ethical sourcing, a unique value for my studio.

My return to the loom in 2020 follows more than 15 years as a designer at small studios and large corporations. I still take on select design projects to stay connected to that profession, but the loom is where I belong. As the years passed and life gave me a little more breathing room, I carved out Sunday mornings for myself. A few hours a week to explore, experiment, and figure out what weaving could mean for me. Sundays became the most important part of my week. Weaving on Sundays grew from there.

Today, my studio stands out by blending woven artistry, collaborative interior textiles, and functional cloth for daily living. I also teach workshops, sharing my distinctive, hands-on process and the value of genuine handwoven work.

I'm here to create work that carries warmth and meaning.

Thank you for being here.
